West Virginia AD Oliver Luck Leaving for New NCAA Position

A person with direct knowledge of the hiring tells The Associated Press that West Virginia athletic director Oliver Luck is joining the NCAA to take a high-ranking position on President Mark Emmert's staff.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because an announcement was being prepared by the NCAA. The Charleston (W.Va.) Daily Mail first reported Luck was leaving West Virginia to take a job with the NCAA.

The person said Luck will work on enforcement, incoming athlete eligibility and academic and membership affairs at the NCAA.

The 54-year-old Luck has been AD at his alma mater for four years. He orchestrated West Virginia's move from the Big East to the Big 12.

Luck's son, Andrew, is the Indianapolis Colts' quarterback and the NCAA offices are based in Indianapolis.
