Watch Steve Spurrier’s Retirement Press Conference

The University of South Carolina is holding its press conference Tuesday morning to officially announce the retirement of head coach Steve Spurrier.

The news broke Monday night when the Head Ball Coach decided to end his career effective immediately. Offensive line coach Shawn Elliot will step into the serve as the interim head coach as South Carolina tries to rebound from a 2-4 start.

Spurrier told a full crowd that he wanted to step away and give Elliot a chance to begin the rebuilding process rather than hang around.

"I think I was the best head coach for the job 11 years ago, but I'm not today," Spurrier said.
