WATCH: Ryan Fowler Recaps Alabama’s National Championship Victory

GLENDALE, Ariz. – Alabama did it again.

And Ryan Fowler was in the building to see it all unfold.

After the Crimson Tide won its fourth national championship in seven seasons in a 45-40 shootout win over Clemson Monday night, the host of Tide 99.1’s “The Game” summarized the wild night in the desert as best as he could.

Alabama allowed 550 total yards of offense but ultimately outlasted a Clemson team led by quarterback Deshaun Watson, who had a career day despite the loss.

But the game swung in the Crimson Tide’s favor in the fourth quarter after coach Nick Saban’s gutsy decision to call a surprise onside kick, which his team recovered.

For Saban, Monday night’s win marks his fifth national championship overall as a head coach – four at Alabama, one at LSU. Considering the program’s current run, Fowler raises the question if Saban has now potentially surpassed Paul “Bear” Bryant as the best coach in Crimson Tide and college football history.
