BIRMINGHAM -- The U.S. was never going to lose against Haiti.

But that's to be expected when you play reigning Women's World Cup winners.

The women's national soccer team played at Legion Field Sunday afternoon, routing the Haitians, 8-0, to extend its home unbeaten streak to 100 games.

The Americans, as a part of a 10-game Victory Tour across the U.S. in celebration of the team's third World Cup title this past summer, played host to 35,753 fans, the largest ever for a standalone women’s national team match in the southeastern United States.

Midfielder Morgan Brian, who has family from the state of Alabama, was among the players who had positive things to say about the crowd. In doing so, the former University of Virginia star also dropped a not-so-subtle comment on her college football allegiance.

"The crowd was awesome," Brian said. "I think people realize, especially yesterday with some of the girls (Carli Lloyd, Julie Johnston and Meghan Klingenberg) going to "College GameDay," obviously, football, American football is huge here. I grew up in that culture. I'm an Auburn fan. I probably shouldn't say that on camera, but War Eagle.

"My dad went to Auburn, so I’ve grown up around this football culture and love it, but also I like soccer, and seen it grow and women’s soccer becoming huge, so I’m really happy about that."
