People are noticing the talent first-year coach Rob Vaughn has assembled on his Crimson Tide  baseball team. To wit:

Alabama shortstop Justin Lebron was named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. The weekly conference honor is the first of Lebron’s career and Crimson Tide’s first during the 2024 season.

Freshman of the Week

Justin Lebron

  • Started all three games at shortstop in his first weekend of collegiate baseball
  • Batted .667 (4-6) with a double, one homer, three RBI, two runs and a hit-by-pitch against Manhattan
  • Led the Crimson Tide in average at .667, a mark that tied for the league-high mark across all teams on opening weekend
  • Recorded at least one hit in all three games against the Jaspers while leading UA in walks
  • Hit an inside the park home run for his first career homer, believed to be just the second player in Crimson Tide history to hit an inside the parker for his first career homer
  • Also played elite defense at short, recording four putouts and three assists in seven chances while turning a slick double play
