At a press conference held earlier today, the event staff for the 2nd annual Tuscaloosa Half Marathon announced not only a course change, but also a presenting sponsor! 

The UR Fed Foundation presents the Tuscaloosa Half Marathon, March 8, 2014! The new race course will start and end at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater. The route will take runners by the historic Battle-Friedman House and Jemison-Van de Graaff Manison as well as a scenic trip through streets surrounding Government Plaza, Bryant Denny Stadium, The Quad and the beautiful new Tuscaloosa Riverwalk.

The Half Marathon will again feature a one-mile Fun Run, presented by The Radiology Clinic, and the Tuscaloosa Children’s Half Marathon (TCHM), which is for children in grades K-5.

In its first year, The Tuscaloosa Half Marathon was the third largest half marathon in Alabama with a total of 1,016 participants representing 28 states. A total of $60,000 was raised for local charities.

The 2014 race will again benefit ReadBAMARead and the Kiwanis Club of Greater Tuscaloosa.
