In 2015, the dates for Talladega Superspeedway’s two race weekends will have a sense of familiarity with race fans.

The spring race will kick off the month of May and the other in late October to again feature the all-important sixth race in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.

NASCAR announced the 2015 schedules for its top three national touring series Tuesday – the NASCAR Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Camping World Truck – and Talladega Superspeedway’s slate will resemble 2014. The tradition of the first weekend in May will continue May, 1-3, at NASCAR’s Most Competitive ribbon of asphalt with a triple header consisting of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, the NASCAR Nationwide Series, as well as the ARCA Racing Series. On October 23-25, the Biggest and Baddest race track on the planet will play host two pivotal races in title chases for both the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series with the fred’s 250 Powered by Coca-Cola and GEICO 500, respectively.

Talladega Superspeedway Chairman Grant Lynch said,

2015 will be here before you know it, and we are happy to let our fans know that the best racing in all of motorsports here at Talladega will return at recognizable times. May is a beautiful time to be at Talladega. We had picture-perfect weather with sunny skies and impeccable temperatures earlier this year, and in late October, there is nothing like being here with the feel of autumn in the air. Add to that the fact that the GEICO 500 will be a paramount, decisive race in NASCAR’s Chase for the Sprint Cup, it’s going to be something else.

The 2015 GEICO 500, the sixth race in the Chase, will also be the third and final event in the Contender Round of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, where the field of 12 eligible drivers vying for the championship, will be reduced to eight after the checkered flag. A win in the GEICO 500 will automatically advance the victor into the Eliminator Round.

A triumph in the May classic at Talladega is just as important to get into the 16-driver Chase field. By virtue of his victory earlier this year at the 2.66-mile venue, Denny Hamlin secured his spot in the Chase.

For 2015, the May NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race and Nationwide Series event are scheduled to be broadcast on FOX. The GEICO 500 next season is scheduled to be broadcast on NBC Sports Network while the fred’s 250 Powered By Coca-Cola is scheduled to broadcast on FOX.
