Saban Provides Statistics From Second Fall Scrimmage
One week after completely holding out on providing statistics from its first fall scrimmage, Alabama coach Nick Saban gave a brief look at what the media and general public weren’t able to see from the Crimson Tide's second fall scrimmage Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
As is usually the custom in the midst of a quarterback competition, numbers from the team’s signal callers were not released, nor were any other statistics for the second straight scrimmage. But Saban dropped a few figures -- number of passes, carries and catches -- as he spoke during his post-scrimmage press conference.
Alabama only allows the media to watch the scrimmage warmups before shepherding reporters inside the stadium until Saban comes to speak immediately afterward. Red Elephant Club – Alabama football’s booster organization – members are the only non-football personnel permitted to watch the scrimmage.
Alabama plays Wisconsin in its season opener in Arlington, Texas on Sept. 5. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on ABC. The Crimson Tide has off-days Sunday and Monday before returning to practice Tuesday.
