According to a report by Pete Roussel of CoachingSearch.com, Kevin Steele will be returning to Alabama to join the football staff. Roussel believes that he'll be hired into a player personnel role, which would be logical following the loss of three quality control assistants this offseason.

If the report holds true, Steele would return to Tuscaloosa after spending the 2012 season out of coaching. His last coaching role came from 2009-12 as the defensive coordinator at Clemson.

Steele is familiar with Saban and the Alabama program. He was one of the first hires Saban made when arriving in Tuscaloosa, naming him defensive coordinator in 2007 and later associate head coach in 2008. When he left for Clemson, Kirby Smart inherited his position and has become one of the hottest names in coaching.

Hiring Steele would bring versatility and a wide range of experience as he's spent time in college, the NFL, as an assistant coach, as a head coach, and as a coach in Saban's system.
