The Gregg Marshall holding pattern in Tuscaloosa got a bit of good news on Wednesday night when a report surfaced that the Wichita State head coach will visit campus with his family.

According to Pat Forde of Yahoo Sports, Marshall has made tentative plans to visit The University of Alabama on Friday. He also added more contract details:

Alabama is prepared to offer Marshall nearly $4 million annually to become the next coach of the Crimson Tide, according to sources. Wichita State is striving to raise Marshall's compensation to more than $3 million annually in hopes that that would be enough to end the coach's interest in Alabama.

Alabama athletic director Bill Battle flew to Wichita on Monday and spent nearly eight hours visiting with Marshall before returning to Tuscaloosa. While other possible candidates have been reported, Alabama has made it clear that Marshall is its number one candidate.

The other potential roadblock to hiring the Shockers' head coach was the job opening at Texas, but the Longhorns are reportedly close to reaching an agreement with Shaka Smart.
