I've got a message for the rioters in Baltimore. #BaltimoreRiots

Posted by Ray Lewis on Tuesday, April 28, 2015

Former NFL linebacker Ray Lewis spoke out against the ongoing violence and rioting in Baltimore with a video posted to Facebook.

The video, which is only three hours old at the time of this story, has been shared nearly 400,000 times and viewed by more than 8 million people. In it, Lewis sends a strong message to the people of Baltimore that the damage being done by rioters is not the solution for the city.

"Violence is not the answer. Violence is never the answer," Lewis pleads in the video.

The 39-year-old has a long history with the city. He played 17 years with the Baltimore Ravens and continues to live in Owings Mills, which is just outside the city.

He is one of the many people in the community speaking out about the violence. The rioting escalated Monday following the funeral Freddie Gray, who died of a severe spinal cord injury while in police custody. As the city remains in a state of unrest, the Orioles have postponed a second-straight home game with the White Sox on Tuesday night.
