Alabama Softball

Alabama Softball continues it's loaded SEC schedule with another top 25 matchup as the #23 Texas A&M Aggies come to Tuscaloosa.

Patrick Murphy's team comes into the weekend series after dropping two of three games at home against #2 Florida in a series dominated by pitching. The Crimson Tide and the Gators combined to score only 12 runs in all three games.

Despite losing the series to Florida, Alabama (23-7, 6-3) comes into the A&M series with some confidence. The trio of Alexis Osorio, Sydney Littlejohn and Leslie Jury all pitched well, giving up only six runs in three games. Haley McCleney and Marisa Runyon also continued their stellar seasons behind the plate, each driving in runs. The Crimson Tide also comes off an 11-0 win over Georgia Tech in a midweek game, where Alabama hit two grand slams.

Texas A&M (24-7, 6-3) comes to Tuscaloosa after sweeping South Carolina last weekend.  The Aggies pitching staff is led by Rachel Fox, while the only other feature pitcher is Katie Marks. Fox comes in with a 13-4 record to match a 2.35 era, while Marks brings an 8-1 record with a 2.32 era. Tori Vidales leads the A&M bats that rank second to last in the SEC in batting average with a .337. Brittany Clopton is second among regular starters in batting average with a .317 batting average.

With the Alabama pitching staff coming up against the second worst batting team in the SEC, this would be a great time to pick up momentum at home as the tough schedule continues. Playing their third straight series against a top 25 team, it will be interesting to see if Alabama shows any fatigue from the rough SEC schedule or if they come out firing, ready to make a statement.

Alabama and Texas A&M play in the first game of the three game series Friday at 6:30, at Rhoads Stadium.
