Patrick Murphy Enshrined into Central Alabama ASA Hall of Fame

Alabama Head Coach Patrick Murphy was inducted into the Central Alabama Amateur Softball Association Hall of Fame this past weekend, adding another award to the lengthy resume of the 16-year Crimson Tide head coach.

Murphy was enshrined along with nine other honorees: G. Pat Adkison, Russ Arthur, Jack Baker, Jim Brown, Dr. Ronald Cater, Joseph Lovoy, Jr., Ronnie Muro, Jerry White and Faye Wilson.

This past season was the Murphy’s 16th as the head coach of the Crimson Tide, pushing his all-time record to 870-246 (.780), including a 342-107 (.762) mark in SEC play. A win over Virginia Tech on Feb. 22, 2014 marked the 800th career win for Murphy, making him just the 15th active Division-I coach with 800 wins at their current school and the only one in the SEC. The Tide have qualified for the NCAA Tournament every season under Murphy and are the only team in the nation to advance to 10-straight Super Regional rounds. Alabama made its ninth appearance in the Women’s College World Series in 2014 and won its fifth SEC Championship.

Alabama has qualified 18 Academic All-Americans during Murphy’s tenure, including a program-record four in 2014. The Alabama coaching staff was named the 2014 NFCA South Region Coaching Staff of the Year, the ninth such award for the Tide, and finished the season in the Top 10 for the 10^th-straight season.
