NFL Draft Analyst Explains What Makes Bama Players Succesful

It’s the calm before the storm. NFL teams are finishing up their homework, preparing for the 2016 NFL draft. The mock drafts are all complete, but now we'll find out where the country's top college talent will head next.

The University of Alabama will send another group of players to the next level to continue annual passage from Tuscaloosa to the league.

John McClain, an NFL draft analyst who’s covered the NFL for the Houston Chronicle for over 35 years, joined host Ryan Fowler on The Game to discussed the qualities a player coached under Nick Saban leaves college with.

“Recruiters know coming into the NFL that Alabama players will be sound fundamentally,” McClain told Fowler. “They are going to be tough, they know what it’s like to play under the bright lights. You know the spotlights shouldn’t be too big for them. Doesn’t mean they are going to be great players, but it means they are going to be sound, they are going to be solid.”

Draft analysts are predicting that Alabama and Ohio State will have a big night.

"It is amazing those two programs (Alabama and Ohio State) will combine for over a third of the first round of the NFL draft," said McClain.

The 2016 NFL draft will air Thursday night at 7 p.m. on ESPN and the NFL Network. Defensive tackles A'Shawn Robinson and Jarran Reed are predicted to be picked up during the first round along with linebacker Reggie Ragland and center Ryan Kelly.
