After opening up their new stadium last year, the San Francisco 49ers will bid to host the College Football Playoff Championship Game in Levi's® Stadium.

The 2016 and 2017 national championship games will be played in Glendale, AZ and Tampa, FL, so San Francisco will be bidding on hosting either the 2018, 2019, or 2020 College Football Playoff National Championship Game later on this year.

It has already been determined that the semifinal games be played at previous major bowl or former BCS bowl sites, such as the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA or the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, TX, but the College Football Playoff officials opened up the possibility for other cities and stadiums to host the championship game (such as AT&T Stadium for the inaugural College Football Playoff National Championship Game).

The NFL will host Super Bowl 50 there next year, and it hosted the Pac-12 Championship Game this past season and also will for the next two seasons.
