Alabama’s rally in the ninth fell just short after Texas A&M took the lead in the eighth, as the Aggies secured a 4-3 come-from-behind win in the SEC Tournament second round on Wednesday morning.

With the loss, the Crimson Tide will play the loser of the Vanderbilt-Missouri game in an elimination contest on Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. CT on the SEC Network.

After holding a 3-0 lead early in the game, the Tide allowed the Aggies to score three runs in the bottom of the third to even things up at 3-3 and then Texas A&M scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth. Alabama would not go quietly in the ninth, with Cody Henry earning a one-out walk and J.C. Wilhite following with a single to put runners on first and second. Will Hayne then singled to left field, but Daniel Cucjen, who came in to pinch-run for Henry, was gunned down at the plate. Riley Colburn dug in with two down and was hit by a pitch to load the bases, but Chandler Avant flied out to center field to end the contest.

Ray Castillo, who pitched two innings of relief, was credited with the loss – his first of the season (3-1), while Texas A&M’s Andrew Vinson (5-2) earned the win.
