Alabama punter JK Scott has been named a semifinalist for the Ray Guy Award, the Augusta Sports Council announced Friday.

Scott, a true freshman from Denver, is one of 10 punters eligible for the award given annually to the most outstanding punter in college football after the field was narrowed down from 82 candidates.

Scott is averaging a school-record 47.1 yards per punt on 36 attempts through nine games this season, third-best in the nation. Eighteen of his punts have landed inside the 20-yard line and 14 have gone longer than 50 yards, including four over 60. His longest punt traveled 66 yards.

Among the 10 semifinalists, Scott is the lone freshman. Three sophomores, juniors and seniors apiece round out the rest of the list.

Last season as a senior, Alabama's now-graduated Cody Mandell was named of 10 semifinalists for the award.

The three finalists for the award will be announced on Nov. 24. The winner will be selected at the Home Depot College Football Awards show live on ESPN on Dec. 11.
