In his NFL career, former County High and Alabama running back Le'Ron McClain has been given the football 343 times as a rusher and caught 92 passes as a receiver. However this Saturday it will be McClain doing the giving as he holds his 6th annual All-Star Football camp, allowing Tuscaloosa area youth to receive coaching from a NFL Pro Bowler.

"I remember as a child, I used to go to the Rod Woodson camp-he used to come back to Ft. Wayne (Ind) and give that free camp. As a kid I always enjoyed being around NFL players that helped me in my years growing up" McClain said Tuesday night on 99.1 WDGM's The Game.

"I always wanted to come back to my home town and do this camp" he added. "I want it to be free."

Now, given the opportunity after 6 years in the National Football League, McClain will take time off from his preparations for his 7th season, 2nd in San Diego to give back to the community that helped shape him.

While McClain's camp will provide plenty of coaching on the field, he says it’s his goal to teach the youth at his camp that sometimes being a great player includes doing the right things outside of the lines.

"This year I want to focus more on the leadership aspect of it, being a great teammate and education-you need school in your back pocket to make things easier down the road."

The camp will take place this Saturday, June 22nd at the new Tuscaloosa County High School with registration beginning at 8:00 am and camp getting underway at 8:30 until 12:30 pm. For more information or to register ahead of time email leronmclainfootballcamp@gmail.com.

As previously mentioned, the camp is free to attend.
