Cristiano Ronaldo Wins Ballon d’Or

Cristiano Ronaldo has taken home the FIFA Player of the Year award, or more commonly known as the Ballon d'Or.

After scoring 69 goals in all competitions this year, Ronaldo continues bringing home award after award while being categorized as the best soccer player on the planet. This is Ronaldo's second Ballon d'Or, ending Lionel Messi's reign of four consecutive years winning the prestigious award.

Also in the running for the Ballon d'Or was Bayern Munich and Frenchman winger Franck Ribery, who, had it not been for Ronaldo or Messi, would have handily won the award this year.

As these three players enter the new year, one thing is for certain: no one is challenging any of these three as a potential threat to steal the award come next January.
