Baton Rouge, La. – Another game, another record-breaking performance by Amari Cooper.

Two weeks after setting the Alabama single-game marks for receptions and receiving yards against Tennessee, Cooper went a few steps further Saturday night at LSU.

With his eight-catch, 83-yard performance, Cooper set three more school records – single-season receptions, single-season receiving yards and career receiving yards – in the Crimson Tide’s thrilling 20-13 overtime win in Death Valley.

On his first reception of the game in the first quarter, a nine-yard pass from quarterback Blake Sims, Cooper passed Julio Jones’ single-season record of 1,133 receiving yards set in 2010. His fifth catch, a 23-yard touchdown reception to tie the score at 7-7 with 5:40 left in the half, moved him ahead of D.J. Hall’s 2,923 career receiving yards.

The junior wideout’s eighth and final reception of the game in the fourth quarter completed the trifecta and put him ahead of Jones’ receptions record of 78.

“One of the things that I want to do in life and football is leave indelible marks,” Cooper said. “Hopefully, it will never be broken.”

Entering the game, Cooper needed eight catches and just two yards to move ahead of Jones, and 56 to pass Hall for sole possession of all three records. Cooper now has 79 catches and 1,215 yards this season, as well as 2,951 yards for his career with at least three games left to play this season.

“It’s always great to do something at your school that nobody else has done,” Cooper said. “I’m very proud of that, but I want to keep working, keep building off of it.”

In the Crimson Tide’s previous game against the Volunteers in Knoxville, Cooper tied Hall’s game record for receptions with 13 and broke Jones’ receiving yards record with 224 yards. (Both Hall’s and Jones’ marks were also set against Tennessee.)

Against Florida on Sept. 20, Cooper caught three touchdown passes to match the single-game record held by four other players and shatter Dennis Homan’s 47-year-old career record of 18 receiving touchdowns. Cooper already held the single-season touchdown receptions record of 11 set during his freshman season in 2012, which he has a chance to improve with 10 touchdown receptions already through nine games this season.

Last season, Cooper was also on the receiving end of the longest scoring pass play in school history, a 99-yard touchdown pass from AJ McCarron at Auburn.

“He’s probably the best wide receiver I’ve ever played with and just a really great guy, humble guy,” center Ryan Kelly said. “He has one of the best work ethics I’ve ever seen. I don’t know what records he set or whatever, but I’m sure he probably won’t even admit to it if you ever met him.”

Kelly is not the only one who has taken notice of Cooper’s standout season and ability. Since the start of the season, Cooper has been called a potential future No. 1 overall draft pick, a Heisman Trophy candidate and even a young Randy Moss by current coaches and former players. During Saturday night's game, New York Jets quarterback Michael Vick was the most recent high-profile person to compliment Cooper.

With 183 career receptions through Saturday, Cooper now needs just 12 to break Hall’s all-time career record of 194. He can also stand alone atop the career 100-yard games list -- where he is currently tied for first at 13 with Hall -- if he reaches the milestone at least one more time in an Alabama uniform.
