The University of Alabama's Junior Day event has become a showcase for high school football players in search of a scholarship offer, but the news from the weekend surrounds a kid yet to play a down in high school. Dylan Moses, an 8th grader out of Louisiana, was offered a scholarship from Alabama head coach Nick Saban after his performance at Junior Day.

Outside of USC head coach Lane Kiffin offering a 13-year-old, scholarship offers for players this young are a rarity, even for the wild west culture of today's recruiting. But Moses can now boast about offers from Alabama as well as LSU, who extended an offer last summer.

"We met with Coach Saban after lunch and he talked to Dylan about his future and what he needed to do to achieve his potential as a student and as a football player," Dylan's father Edward Moses Jr. told AL.com's Matt Scalici.  "When he said he was offering Dylan a scholarship, we asked a lot of questions just to make sure we knew exactly what he meant. Coach Saban said the Alabama staff believes Dylan has a chance to be the best player in the country in the Class of 2017 and they were ready to offer him a scholarship. That's when the fireworks started going off in our heads."

Players treat these events essentially as a tryout since the coaches can watch and work with them first-hand, but Saban hasn't made a habit out of reaching for players four recruiting classes away.

You can only imagine the potential the coaches see in this prospect, but at what age do you draw the line?
