ATLANTA – No. 2 Alabama pulled away late to beat West Virginia in its season opener on Saturday, but there was at least one casualty from it.

Senior wide receiver DeAndrew White left the game early in the third quarter and did not return after he was hit hard in the shoulder by West Virginia cornerback Daryl Worley, following a 19-yard reception from Blake Sims.

After he was examined in the locker room, he came back to the sideline later in the game with his right arm in a sling.

"DeAndrew White has a little separated shoulder," Alabama coach Nick Saban said. "I don't think it's really bad. He may be out – I haven't talked to the doctor yet, but (he may be out) a week or so. I don't know."

White finished the game as the Crimson Tide's second-leading receiver with six catches for 73 yards.

The Crimson Tide beat West Virginia, 33-23.
