Alabama continued its preparations for LSU on Wednesday, its third day of practice this week. The Crimson Tide practiced outside on the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields wearing full pads.

Observations:

- Both right tackle Dominick Jackson (ankle) and safety Ronnie Harrison (ankle) practiced for a third straight day Wednesday after missing all of last week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) with due to ankle injuries. Jackson, whose left ankle was taped, participated in both footwork and contact drills for the second day in a row after sitting out of the latter on Monday.

Alabama coach Nick Saban said during his Monday noon press conference earlier in the day that he expected their returns but said they we need to be evaluated on a “day-to-day basis.” Last week, Saban casted some doubt about Jackson’s ability to return in time to play against LSU, but it looks like he should be available. Both players left the Tennessee game with their ankle sprains.

- Safety Eddie Jackson (sprained knee) practiced again Wednesday, as he has all of this week and last week. Like Dominick Jackson and Harrison, Eddie Jackson was injured against Tennessee, though he eventually returned.

- Scouts from the Carolina Panthers and Houston Texans watched practice from the sidelines.

- ESPN’s “SportsCenter” bus was parked outside the practice facility for the second straight day. Marty Smith, a reporter with the network, was seen on the practice fields.

As is customary on any game week practice, numerous Alabama players wore scout-team jerseys to simulate key LSU players. Here is a list of a few at a couple of different position groups:

- At running back, Ronnie Clark and Derrick Gore wore sophomore running back Leonard Fournette’s No. 7. Another running back wore No. 5 for freshman running back Derrius Guice.

- For the wide receivers, Derek Kief and Deionte Thompson wore No. 15 for sophomore wideout Malachi Dupre. And again, while he is officially listed as a wide receiver, freshman running back Xavian Marks wore sophomore wideout Trey Quinn’s No. 8.

- Among the tight ends, redshirt freshman Johnny Dwight wore No. 81 for starting tight end Colin Jeter.

- While many inside and outside linebackers wore scout-team jerseys earlier in the week, it appeared many returned back to their usual jersey numbers Wednesday.

Saban and selected players will speak to the media after practice tonight around 6 p.m.
