Alabama began its practice week for Mississippi State on Monday afternoon. The Crimson Tide practiced outside on the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields in shells (helmets, shoulder pads and shorts).

Observations:

- Running back T.J. Yeldon (ankle) dressed out for practice but was limited and watched the other running backs go through drills from the side. He did not wear a black, non-contact jersey. Yeldon sprained his left ankle on the same play he fumbled down near the Crimson Tide’s own goal line late in the fourth quarter against LSU.

“T.J.’s OK. He’s got a little ankle sprain,” Alabama coach Nick Saban said during his press conference earlier in the day. “Probably will be a little bit slow the first couple days this week, but hopefully we’ll get him going later in the week and he’ll be OK.”

- Running backs Tyren Jones and Altee Tenpenny wore scout team No. 13 jerseys to simulate Mississippi State’s Josh Robinson. This is a good sign that Saban isn’t too worried about Yeldon’s availability against the Bulldogs on Saturday. Robinson is second in the SEC in rushing with 984 yards and first in rushing touchdowns with 11.

- Left tackle Cam Robinson (ankle) went through offensive line drills at the back of the line, likely for precautionary reasons. Robinson sustained a high ankle sprain at Tennessee, which Saban initially believed would force the true freshman to miss several weeks, but the true freshman started and played the entire game against LSU. His right ankle was taped on Monday.

“I was pretty shocked by it,” right tackle Austin Shepherd said Monday about Robinson’s ability to play against LSU. “What I saw, I haven’t really seen much of it and watched film, but from what I heard, he played pretty good. I’m just glad he could be out there with us.”

Shepherd, Alabama’s usual starter at right tackle, filled in at left tackle for Robinson during practice with backup Grant Hill moving into play at first-team right tackle.

- Linebacker Reggie Ragland (hand) continues to wear a club on his broken left hand. After the LSU game, Ragland said he had broken it during a practice, but it has not hindered him at all.

“I ain’t really feel it too much. It was really good for the whole game,” Ragland said Monday. “My hand’s fine. I’m ready to get to this week against Mississippi State.”

- Tight end Brian Vogler (knee) did not appear to be limited, running routes and catching passes from the quarterbacks along with the other tight ends. Vogler played sparingly against LSU but Saban said he expects him to increase his workload this week in practice.

"Brian did a good job in the game with the limited amount of reps in practice," Saban said. "But we feel like he’s going to be able to practice this week and be much better for this week."

- Dillon Lee was back practicing with the inside linebackers. He has bounced back and forth between the inside and outside linebackers all season. He is listed as an inside linebacker for the Crimson Tide.
