Fresh off its first loss of the season against Ole Miss last Saturday, Alabama began its practice preparation on Monday for Arkansas. The Crimson Tide worked in shells (helmets, shoulder pads and shorts) outdoors on the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields.

Observations:

- Redshirt freshman Bradley Bozeman practiced as the first-team center in place of the injured Ryan Kelly. Kelly sprained his knee in Alabama's 23-17 loss at Ole Miss on Saturday and will be out for "at least a couple weeks," coach Nick Saban announced earlier Monday.

- Left guard Arie Kouandjio was limited in practice with an undisclosed reason. Alphonse Taylor, who has worked as the first- or second-team right guard all season, replaced Kouandjio at left guard. Kouandjio spoke to the media earlier in the day and appeared fine.

- Offensive lineman Grant Hill (illness) was missing from practice. He missed all of last week's practice with illness, as well.

- Brandon Greene, who is originally an offensive tackle, but has been practicing with the tight ends the past few weeks, was back at left tackle to fill the void left by Hill in his absence.

- Dillon Lee was back working with the outside linebackers, likely due to starting outside linebacker Denzel Devall being forced out for the next couple of weeks due to a high ankle sprain suffered in the loss at Ole Miss. Though he is listed as an outside linebacker, Lee had been working with the inside linebackers for almost the entire season so far.

- Blake Sims did not appear to be limited at all from throwing during passing drills. He had been limited the past two weeks after sustaining a bruised shoulder against Florida.

- Running back Tyren Jones (finger) pedaled on a stationary bike with a small cast on the hand with the injured finger. Jones, who is the Crimson Tide's fourth option at running back when everyone is healthy, tore a tendon in his finger and will miss several weeks, Saban announced last week.

- Altee Tenpenny, who is from North Little Rock, Arkansas, wore his No. 28 jersey as opposed to a scout-team jersey. Tenpenny has been the Crimson Tide's fifth option at running back but with Jones and Kenyan Drake out, Tenpenny has moved up to No. 3 on the depth chart behind T.J. Yeldon and Derrick Henry.

- Linebacker Reuben Foster wore a neck pad during practice, which he has not previously been wearing. Foster has had some neck injury issues, but Saban said just before the start of the season that they helped correct his tackling technique.

- Freshman linebacker Keith Holcombe wore No. 47 to simulate Arkansas starting linebacker Martrell Spaight.

- Upon leaving practice, tight end Kurt Freitag (toe) could be seen riding a knee scooter due to a cast being on the foot with the injured toe.
