Even during bye weeks, Alabama players have some media responsibilities.

Defensive lineman Dalvin Tomlinson, left guard Ross Pierschbacher and safety Geno Matias-Smith all spoke with reporters Wednesday afternoon in the midst of the team's lone bye week this season.

Each player highlighted the importance of rest this week after eight straight games to begin the season. Alabama (7-1, 4-1 SEC) has an open date this Saturday before playing LSU (7-0, 4-0 SEC), currently ranked No. 4 in this week's polls, at home on Nov. 7.

While the team has yet to look at film of the Tigers, all three players said they have a sense of what to expect in the upcoming matchup. Each also offered their memories of Alabama's 2011 "Game of the Century" against LSU, which the Tigers won 9-6. Tomlinson and Matias-Smith were both on the sidelines at that game as recruits.

Alabama players will not meet with the media again this week. The team had Monday off, before returning to practice Tuesday. It will also hold afternoon practices Wednesday and Thursday. Many players choose to go home for the weekend after that final practice of a bye week. The University of Alabama has its annual fall break Thursday and Friday of this week.

Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban held his bye week press conference Tuesday night. When the game is in a game week, Saban meets with the media on Mondays and Wednesdays.
