Alabama baseball fell, 8-1, to fourth-ranked Florida in the second game of Friday’s doubleheader inside McKethan Stadium at Perry Field. With the split, Alabama now sits at 14-11 overall and 4-4 in the Southeastern Conference.

Florida put up a five-spot in the home half of the first, and that would prove to be all the Gators needed for the win. Alabama collected one run in the second inning, thanks to back-to-back doubles from Kyle Overstreet and Will Haynie, but could not add any more by night’s end.

Overstreet finished the second game 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored, and wrapped up the day 5-for-9 with two RBI and three runs scored to lead the Alabama offense.

Saturday’s finale will decide the series between the Crimson Tide and Gators. Alabama will toss sophomore right-hander Geoffrey Bramblett while Florida will call on sophomore righty Dane Dunning to close out the series.
