It's that time of the year yet again: football is officially back, and the high school kids are kicking this season off with a bang, so don't miss any of the action!

Each week, we'll be breaking down a few high school games from around the West Alabama area, getting you ready for Friday Night Lights. When you hear the pads popping, you know it's time for high school football!

Gordo @ Fayette County, Friday 7:00 PM

The Green Wave of Gordo will be trotting out one of the best teams in 3A this season, led by 2016 five-star linebacker recruit Ben Davis, son of legendary University of Alabama linebacker Wayne Davis. They'll be traveling to Fayette County to do battle with the fifth ranked 4A Tigers. One player to keep an eye on for the Tigers is Dee Nall, an offensive lineman who has committed to the Mississippi State Bulldogs for the 2016 season.

Brookwood @ Central-Tuscaloosa, Thursday 7:00 PM

A local match-up in the city of Tuscaloosa pits the Central-Tuscaloosa Falcons as they play host to the Brookwood Panthers. Brookwood is coming off a victory against the Sipsey Valley Bears in Week 0 by a score of 21-14, and they'll be looking to continue that momentum when the Falcons lineup against them tonight. Central is kicking off their season tonight, and are looking for someone to fill the giant hole in the offensive line when last year's outstanding lineman Lester Cotton graduated and began his collegiate career at the University of Alabama.

Maplesville @ Billingsley, Friday 7:00 PM

One of the biggest match-ups in the entire state will take place at the 1A level. The Red Devils of Maplesville, the defending 1A state champions, will travel to the home of the Billingsley Bears for a huge top 10 battle Friday night. The Red Devils are preseason #1 in 1A and the Bears come in as the preseason #7 team in the state, so we'll see right out of the gates just how talented both teams are this season.
