Alabama's top retailers for 2015 were honored on Tuesday and three businesses with operations in Tuscaloosa made the list. 

The Alabama Retail Association and the UAB Collat School of Business recognized 13 retail businesses around the state from almost 70 nominations during the 2015 Retail Day Luncheon in Birmingham.

Two of the Tuscaloosa businesses were awarded in the annual sales of $5 million to $20 million. Betsy McAtee and the management team of Dreamland Holding Co., which has two locations in town, won the gold award. Shane Spiller, president of Spiller Furniture & Mattress, took home the bronze award for his operation all across West Alabama.

The third Tuscaloosa winner was Steel City Pops, which was awarded the GEE Emerging Retailer of the Year. The popsicle retailer has eight total locations.

Jim Watkins, owner of Steel City Pops in Auburn, Birmingham, Homewood (headquarters), Huntsville, Mountain Brook and Tuscaloosa as well as Dallas, Fort Worth and Garland, Texas.
